After weeks of waiting and hinting, we are proud to unveil Chris McGrath's cover for THE KINGMAKERS: VAMPIRE EMPIRE Book 3

One of the great joys of this series for us has been seeing Chris's take on all 3 covers. We've been very fortunate to have his powerful and beautiful art represent our books.

We want to thank Lou Anders, our editor and the art director at Pyr, who knew from the start that Chris McGrath would be perfect. And also Grace M. Conti Zilsberger, who did the stunning design and layout.

So here it is.
The book will arrive in early September.

The End Is In Sight! And so are Adele and Greyfriar!

We are at the penultimate reveal of Chris McGrath's beautiful cover for The Kingmakers. Some readers who met us at the RT Booklover's Convention in Chicago were lucky enough to see the full cover.

By the way, we met a lot of fans at RT and you were all great. We were particularly taken by the affection you guys have for the series, and how you lovingly pester your friends to read it too. Word of mouth is what any author craves. We grew up as readers and we know there is nothing more satisfying than finishing a book you love, and immediately thinking of a friend who will love it too. And then talking about it once they finish it.

So thanks for talking Vampire Empire!

There's mysterious stuff going on in Chris McGrath's artwork.

We can finally see a good hint of Adele, wielding some fantastic power. But there's no real view of Greyfriar yet, although you can glimpse a hand with a sword...so he must be at her side, as usual.

We're nearing the end...


We're only a couple weeks from the big finale. Here's a few more tantalizing hints of the lusciousness that is Chris McGrath's cover of Vampire Empire Book 3.

We'll also remind you that we will be in Chicago for the RT Booklovers Convention April 11-15 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. We'll be on a couple of panels (we'll post our schedule later) and signing at the big Saturday night Book Fair. If you're coming to RT, find us and say hello!

Here it is. A little early.

We got 15 new Likes on the Facebook page as of today, so here's the new post, just like we promised. Thanks to everyone!

Week 2 gives a few more hints about what exactly is happening on Chris McGrath's beautiful cover for VAMPIRE EMPIRE Book 3.

Look closely. Is that a scary hand? What's that other thing? Is it a kitten? No, probably not.

Or is it?

And again, as with last week, if we get 15 new Likes on Vampire Empire's Facebook page, we'll reveal the next puzzle pieces earlier than next Friday.

There will soon be pages between this beautiful cover layout by Grace M. Conti-Zilsberger, who took full advantage of the lovely painting by Chris McGrath.

Pyr's fantastic marketing department, led by the tireless Jill Maxick, added some enthusiastic cover blurbs from Marjorie Liu (NY Times bestseller), Margo Adler (NPR commentator and bestselling author), and R.T. Book Review (one of the top review sources for paranormal, adventure, and romance).

Less than a month and we'll have the book in our hands!

Vampire Empire in the Big Apple

We're at Book Expo America...sort of.


Here's a shot of Book Expo booth belonging to Prometheus Books (Pyr Books' parent company). You'll notice among all the wonderful posters the cover for VAMPIRE EMPIRE: THE GREYFRIAR prominently displayed. You may also notice it doesn't look exactly like the version we posted below. They used a poster with an earlier version of the cover; the beautiful finished version by Chris McGrath wasn't quite complete in time for the Fall/Winter catalog promo. Still, that's awfully cool!

We would love to do BEA one year, but alas, our book cover made it before us.

Vampire Empire: The Greyfriar

We have a cover!

This lovely work of art is by the talented Chris McGrath, best known for his work on Jim Butcher's Dresden Files. The layout is by Grace M. Conti-Zilsberger. And the whole thing was overseen by our editor (Hugo nominee) Lou Anders. We can't wait to see it staring out from bookstore shelves everywhere in November 2010.

We are so excited to see our hero and heroine, The Greyfriar and Adele, in the moody kirkyard of Greyfriars in Edinburgh. That's Edinburgh Castle looming in the background.

We were married in that very church and have many wedding photos in the same churchyard...none quite so foreboding as this cover shot though.
