I'd like to see Kevin Durand in the part! I think he's a largely overlooked actor with phenomenal talent. He's physically imposing and yet graceful and possesses the quiet emotional depth needed to capture Greyfriar's many facets as a character.
Thomas McDonnel would be a great Greyfriar. Looks just like the cover of the book.
Interesting. We think Durand might actually be a great Cesare, although a bit tall.McDonnell looks really young. But if you project a movie 3 or 4 years from now, he could well grow into the part quite well.
How about David Tennant? He's Scottish, romantic, and made a very believable Dr.
Joe Manganiello has the looks & the build for playing the Greyfriar, plus, he has darkness about him that's alluring. With that - I would love to play Adele. I’m not dark haired as she is described, but I love her statistic humor, her not quite ready to take on the prestige of her Kingdom; and her ability to be hard & brave then soft & alluring. She truly fits the all around the heroine.
To be honest, as I read the book I couldn't imagine it being done live action. I think that this would be an amazing anime movie in the style of Vampire Hunter D.
Alexander Skarsgård would be great.Matthew Gray Gubler - Greyfriar is described as tall and thin, but strong. No Blue eyes though.
Gubler looks really young. But if you figure a movie that might not be made for several years, he might age well.
Loki has become a popular choice recently. He would need to bulk up just a little.
